2026 SAIA KZN Bursary

After three successful years, the SAIA-KZN Education Committee are proud to announce that the SAIA KZN Bursary Fund (previously the Pieter Zitman bursary) is now open for applications for 2026.
 
The bursary aims to support students of architecture who demonstrate skill, commitment, and need for financial support in furthering their studies. This year 4 students who demonstrate real financial need will be awarded bursaries to the value of R10 000.
 
This bursary is only open to registered students of Architecture at the Honour’s level (full and part-time) at both the Durban University of Technology (DUT) and the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN) and Masters level  at UKZN. 
 
Interested applicants are to submit the following for consideration by the review panel:

SAIA-KZN Student Membership form (membership is free to students) 
A short CV (max. 2 pages) Portfolio of work (max. 5 pages/10mb file size)
A motivation letter stating why you need the funds (max. 2 pages)
Proof of registration with your institution
A fee statement 

Conditions of the bursary:
The bursary fund is non-transferable. The bursary will be paid directly into the student accounts at the respective educational institution.
Applicants are required to declare any additional funding (bursary/sponsorship/otherwise) toward their fees. Recipients will present their final year work at the year-end education exhibition held at SAIA-KZN
Recipients will be required to enrol with SAIA KZN as members for a minimum of 3 years once professionally registered with SACAP. 

The closing date for applications is Friday, 13 March 2026
